About Compress Image

Compare an image with a new browser-encoded version to find a useful balance between detail and file size. JPG and WebP offer quality controls; PNG output does not use a lossy quality slider.

How to use Compress Image

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
  2. Choose an output format and adjust quality when available. Compare the preview and file sizes.
  3. Download the output if it meets your needs, or keep the original if it is smaller.

Processing time and image limits depend on your device. Cached tools may work offline; AI features need their model assets downloaded first.

Frequently asked questions

Can I guarantee an output smaller than 100 KB?

No. This tool offers format and quality controls, not a guaranteed target-size mode. Output depends on image dimensions and content; you may also need to crop or resize the source.

Why can the compressed image be larger?

The original may already be well optimized, or the chosen format may be less efficient for that image. Compare sizes and keep the original when re-encoding does not help.

Does PNG quality change like JPEG quality?

No. Browser PNG encoding does not use a lossy quality setting. Try WebP or JPG for adjustable compression, and remember that JPG replaces transparency with a solid background.

Are my image files uploaded?

No. Image processing happens locally in your browser. The website downloads its code and, for AI tools, model assets. Anonymous site usage analytics are separate from your image files.

Is this tool free to use?

Yes. No account or payment is required. Processing capacity depends on your browser, image dimensions, and available device memory.
